Who Hath Blessed Us

Who Hath Blessed Us

Eph. 1:2-14

The apostle Paul describes how that God hath blessed us. Because we are now in Christ, there are spiritual blessings that we all are to take part in. Adoption, redemption, and our inheritance are the headings that these blessings fall under.

Adoption [Verses 4-6]

(Many use “predestination” in the following verses to prove their false doctrine of Calvinism, that God only saves those whom he has chosen before the foundation of the world. Predestination in your Bible is NEVER to salvation.)

Because of God’s forethought – “before the foundation of the world”, all of us “in him” should be holy and blameless before him in love. Not right now, but one day you will stand before him this way, because of your glorified body. so You are spiritually born again, into God’s family. No adoption into his family is needed. So, adoption has to do with your new body [Rom.8:23]. You will be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ [Rom.8:29] [Phil.3:21]. Because of the good pleasure of his will [Verse 5], and to the praise of the glory of his grace [Verse 6], he hath made us accepted in the beloved [Matt.3:17]. [Rom.5:6-11], even in our horrible condition God provided a way to bless us and accept us! WOW!

Redemption [Verses 7-10]

Your redemption came with a high cost. We were purchased with God’s own blood [Acts 20:28] and all our sins have been forgiven! All of this was according to the riches of his grace. Judgement is when God gives you exactly what you deserve. Mercy is when God does not give you what you deserve. But the greatest of all is Grace! Grace is when God gives you exactly what you don’t deserve! None of us deserve our salvation, what a blessing!

Paul goes on to mention a mystery. One of the mysteries of God’s will is that we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones, [Eph.5:30-32]. There is a time when God will gather together in one all things in Christ [1Cor.15:28] [Jn.17:20-23]. He hath blessed us, how eternally secure is that?

Inheritance [Verses 11-14]

When you inherit something, you take possession of it. Paul says that we have obtained an inheritance. You have by faith, obtained eternal life, your inheritance [Lk18:18]. To the praise of his glory, we possess eternal life NOW! What a blessing. We also receive the reward of our inheritance [Col.3:23-25] for service, and if we suffer [Rom.8:16-17]. We are also sealed with the Holy Spirit [Eph.4:30], and it is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession [Rom.8:23] [1Cor.6:19-20]. Our earnest, the Holy Spirit is a wonderful spiritual blessing!

Conclusion: Many people learn of these spiritual blessings long after salvation. Please take what you have learned today and rejoice in it.
