Four Things Which Are Little Prov. 30:24-28

Prov 30:24-28 describes four things which are little upon the earth that are exceeding wise.  They are commended for their wisdom, not for their strength or size.  This reminds us that the Jews are a small nation and yet they will come out of the Tribulation not by might and strength but by wisdom – Zech 4:6; Ecc 9:16 – in their case as in the case of these four things which are little, their wisdom is better than strength.

These four things which are little are all hindered in some way – ants are not strong, conies are feeble, locusts have no king and spiders are small – this proverb speaks of their hands – have you ever seen their hands? Yet they accomplish some great things.

Ants – prepare their meat in the summer – like a man is supposed to gather in harvest – there is much you can learn from ants – Prov 6:6-8 – they have no guide, overseer, or ruler yet she provideth her meat summer and gathereth in harvest – Jews will have to gather up manna during the Tribulation when they cannot take the mark of the beast – they will be feeding in Bashan and Carmel in addition to Selah Mic 7:14-15 – they will have to go out each day and gather the hidden manna – Lam 5:8-12; Rev 2:17, Rev 12:6 they will gather it with the peril of their lives – the ones who stay behind in Jerusalem instead of running for the mountains get a really bad deal.

Conies – Ps 104:18; Lev 11:5; Deut 14:7 – Bible skeptics really get messed up by calling these conies, “rabbits” and then saying that rabbits don’t have hooves and don’t live in rocks – they can’t even look up the definition – a coney is any of various burrowing animals of the family Leporidae having long ears and short tails; some domesticated and raised for pets or food; a small short-eared burrowing mammal of rocky uplands of Asia and western North America; any of several small ungulate [having hooves] mammals of Africa and Asia with rodent-like incisors and feet with hooflike toes – you see that believing the Bible is better than correcting it – conies make their houses in the rocks [for protection] and this is where the Jews will run for protection [the rock city – Selah Petra] – Ps 27:5; Jer 48:28; Is 16:1.

Locusts – have no king but go out by bands – ALL of them – the Jews have no king now or in the Tribulation – they are waiting on their king – unlike when they crucified Jesus and said in reply to Pilate, “We have no king but Caesar,” Jn 19:15 – they can’t look to the king antichrist – so, for protection, the Jews should band together when they run out of Judea (Matt 24) to protect themselves from people like the Edomites who are taking them captive and turning them over to the antichrist (Oba 14) – these locusts are in contrast to the mutated locusts that come out of the bottomless pit – those locusts have a king, Rev 9.

Spider [singular, female] – you find them in king’s palaces – Israel [she] is going to become the ruling nation of the world with David as her king – Is 60; Jer 30:9 – there is no chance this could happen, yet they can take their encouragement from the spider.
