Who is on the Lord’s Side, Ex 32:26-28

Who is on the Lord’s Side Ex. 32:26-28 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

Moses asked the men of Israel, Who is on the Lord’s side?  And the tribe of Levi came to him.  Then every man put his sword by his side and went in and killed every soul that was involved in the naked worship of the golden calf.  They had to kill their brothers, companions and neighbors.

Choosing to be on the Lord’s side will put you at odds with your family, friends and neighbors when they choose to go against the Lord.  It will put you at odds with some other things, too.  Are you on the Lord’s side?  Well, if you are on the Lord’s side, then:

You are with him against idolatry – the golden calf was made to keep the people together – they were revolting without Moses there – and so the idol kept the crowd happy – many churches today are ministering based upon what pleases the people rather than what pleases the Lord – look at the similarities – they had dancing, unholy music and singing and eventually nakedness – the same thing is going on in churches today – look where these Levites ended up, Ezek 44:10-13 – they started out on the Lord’s side and ended up on the devil’s side – where do you stand?

You are with him against the world – in Jas 4:4 a stand with God is a stand against the world [Gal 6:14] – and a stand with the world is a stand against God – there is absolutely NO middle ground in this battle – soldiers who stand in the middle of this raging war get shot – the Lord said be cold or hot – he spues the lukewarm ones out of his mouth – a missionary said that since his last trip to the USA 8 years ago he has seen a dramatic move toward humanism in the churches – the messages are soft and easy on the people because the pastors are afraid of offending them – that’s the result of worldliness – Ps 119:165 says, “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them” – they have drifted away from the word and drifted to the world, instead – look at Demas [2 Tim 4:10].  Don’t you know who the god of this world is [2 Cor 4:4]?

You are with him against your flesh – Gal 5:16-17 shows you the absolute line of demarcation between the Lord’s Spirit in you and your flesh – you need to keep that line as clear as possible because your flesh will trick you into sliding gradually across that line [like rubbing out the old chalk lines on a baseball field] – when you stand with God then it isn’t so hard for you to develop some really strong and clear convictions – the best decisions you make are the ones that are based on a clear stand with God against your flesh – you don’t have to explain “why” to anyone – that’s just the way it is – and the only place to take this kind of stand is on the cross with Christ [Rom 6:6-7]

You are with him against anyone who is against him – Paul had no problem identifying the Lord’s enemies – he even named some of them [1 Tim 1:20; 2 Tim 2:17; 2 Tim 3:8; 2 Tim 4:14] – listen, if your parents are against him then you are against your parents if you are with him – it’s not that you don’t love them – it’s just that you can’t let them persuade you in any way to give up your stand with Christ – if your girlfriend or boyfriend is against him then you are against her or against him – if your children are against him [like Eli’s were in 1 Sam 2:12; 3:12-13], your friends are against him, your neighbors are against him then by virtue of the fact that you have chosen to stand with him you have also chosen to stand against them – again, you can try to reach them, but you can’t go along with them.

You are with him against modern perversions – Paul said, “We are not as many, which corrupt the word of God,” 2 Cor 2:17 – just like Jehudi [Jer 36], they are unafraid to take anything and everything out of the Bible that doesn’t suit them – they don’t believe his words [Jn 8:43-45; Lk 24:25], or the authority of his words [Jn 12:48], or the preservation of his words [Ps 12:6-7] or the inspiration of his words [2 Tim 3:16] – and God states that all of these things are true [Jn 17:17] – you can’t be on the Lord’s side if you don’t believe his words and these truths about his words – you are kidding yourself if you think you are on his side; you are walking on the line.  But you aren’t fooling him.

Conclusion: Are you sure that you are on the Lord’s side? Does the Lord know that you are on his side?  To what extent can these folks who are against the Lord tell that you are with him and not with them?  You say, “Well, they can’t.”  Perhaps it’s time that you take a stronger stand and get back on the Lord’s side and stay there.
