A Wicked Counselor Nah. 1:11-15 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In Nah 1:11-15 we read about a wicked counselor. It can be a little tough to follow the passage because the Lord addresses two different groups as “thee.” Sometimes he is talking to Israel and sometimes to Nineveh, or the Antichrist from Nineveh.
This is the burden of Nineveh so “the one come out of thee” who is “a wicked counselor” [Nah 1:11] is the Antichrist. He passes through Israel. The Lord directs him and uses him to afflict Israel.
God afflicts Israel through nations like he did with the Assyrian kings, Pul, Tiglathpileser, Shalmaneser, and Sennacherib, and like he did with the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar.
The “Assyrian” is a constant problem for the Jews. He was the Pharaoh of the Exodus [Is 52:4]. He will be the Antichrist of the Tribulation [Is 10:5-15]. And, eventually, God will get him when he is through using him [Is 14:25].
At that time, the Lord breaks his yoke off of Israel. Then in Nah 1:14, the Lord cuts down the Assyrian’s image and sends him to the grave because he is VILE.
Finally, we read about the good news of the millennial reign of Jesus Christ in Nah 1:15.
