1 John 3:1-3 We are Sons of God CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. When we get saved, we also become sons of God. As a result, we can make some comparisons in this text between Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, and ourselves, the sons of God by the new birth.
Jesus had:
A Supernatural Birth – Lk 1:35 – “… that holy thing that shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Supernatural Knowledge – Jn 1:43-49 – Jesus, the Son of God, knew Nathanael was an Israelite in whom is no guile when he saw him nearly 7 miles away under a fig tree.
Supernatural Revelation – Matt 16:13-17 – Peter knew that Jesus was “the Son of the living God” by supernatural revelation.
A Supernatural Death – Matt 27:50-54 – The Centurion knew, by his death, that Jesus truly was the Son of God.
A Supernatural Resurrection – Jn 20:26-31 – There is no other man who ever raised up from the dead to live forever.
Likewise, we have:
A Supernatural Birth – Jn 3:6-7 – We are born again supernaturally by the Spirit of God.
Supernatural Knowledge – Prov 2:1-9 – We have the supernatural knowledge that comes from the words of God in the Bible.
Supernatural Revelation – 1 Cor 2:10-16 – The Holy Spirit reveals to us the things of God which the natural man cannot receive.
A Supernatural Death – 2 Cor 5:8 – According to this passage, when we die, we are absent from the body and present with the Lord. That happens immediately at death.
A Supernatural Resurrection – 1 Thes 4:16-18 – Our bodies go up to be with the Lord at the rapture, when our vile bodies are changed and fashioned like his glorious body.
And in addition to this we enjoy the same supernatural love from the Father that Jesus had when he was here – compare Jn 3:35 with Jn 17:23. Amen!! Glory to God!!
