According to 1 Cor 15:3-22, we know that Christ rose from the dead because of the prophecy of scripture [Acts 2:25-32; Ps 16:8-11] and because of the testimony of his eyewitnesses.   John even saw him in heaven and recorded what he saw in the Book of Revelation.  In spite of all this evidence, there are people who don’t believe in the resurrection of Jesus.  The Pharisees, chief priests and elders who opposed Paul didn’t believe in the resurrection [Acts 26:6-8].  Festus said that Paul was mad [Acts 26:24].  And so, even today, there are those who don’t believe.  When you believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receive him:

You will be made alive – 1 Cor 15:22; Jn 14:25-26 – you are physically alive now, but your body will eventually die.  Nevertheless, Jesus Christ is coming back and when he does he will raise your body from the dead to live forever with him [1 Thes 4:16-18].  You will have a glorified body just like his [1 Jn 3:1-2, Phi 3:21].  Therefore, there is no fear in death because death is not the end.

You will have assurance of your salvation – 1 Jn 5:11-13; Eph 2:6 – no longer do you have to “hope” or “think” that you will go to heaven.  You will “know” for sure that you will be in heaven and that you have eternal life.  You are seated there right now.

You will have power – Phil 3:10; Rom 6:4-11 – it is one thing to know you are going to go to heaven when you die, but it is even better to know that the resurrected Savior lives inside of you when you trust Jesus.  He gives you His power to deal with sin in your life.  You have his power and strength for everything you do: to be a better child, to be a better spouse, to be a better witness, Sunday school teacher, preacher, musician, employee, employer, testimony.  To strengthen others when they are down.  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

You will have hope – Rom 8:24-28 – when you believe in the resurrection, you know that a better day is coming.  You know that the infirmity you now endure is going to yield something better.  You know that the hardship, temptation or trial through which you are going is going to pass.  The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us [Rom 8:18].  Like Solomon said, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof,” [Ecc 7:8]… therefore, “the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.”

Conclusion: For this life, assurance, power and hope to be yours, you simply need to trust the Lord Jesus Christ and he will give you all of these things because he is risen from the dead.
