Esther was able to accomplish what she did for the Jews in Ahasuerus’ kingdom because she was there at just the right time.  She was there for such a time as this.  In the Bible, we see that most things accomplished for the Lord were accomplished because God had a person in place who would do what he wanted.  Examples – Noah, Joseph, Moses, Daniel, and so forth.  Only God knows if he has something very special for you to do for such a time as this.  If he does, there are some things to keep in mind.

The time is God’s not yours – Esther fasted three days, met with the King on the fourth day and exposed Haman on the fifth day – the timing was critical – Moses wandered around for years after he was grown and then led the Jews out of Egypt when he was 80 [exactly 430 years from the time Abraham first sojourned in Egypt, Ex 12:40-41] – and so you must wait to do what he wants when the time comes.  Likewise, because the time is his and not yours, you must not delay when the time comes or you will miss the opportunity.

Their success was not due to their greatness – it was due to God’s greatness – God is the one that interpreted the dreams, God is the one who brought the plagues, opened the sea, destroyed the enemies – it was the power of God that overshadowed Mary – it was God who protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – these folks were not out to make a name for themselves but for God!!  Watch out for ambition.

Yet they were required to prepare and work hard – Noah had to build the ark, Joseph had to serve as a slave, in the prison and under Pharaoh – Daniel had to study hard and eat pulse – Moses nearly wore away leading and judging the Jews in the wilderness.

And they had to trust God – Joseph could wait it out because he was sure that God was up to something – Daniel had to trust God in the lion’s den – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego before they went into the furnace – David had to trust God in the fight with Goliath –

Conclusion: You can do great things for God if you are in the right place at the right time and you are willing to prepare and work hard and you are willing to trust God to do what he wants the way he wants it when he wants it – and if you are willing for him to get all the glory.
