Beautiful Feet Is. 52:7 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Read with Rom 10:14-15. When God speaks to us of preaching the word of God he does not emphasize the beautiful face, voice, personality, demeanor or dress of the preacher. He mentions the beautiful feet. That’s because his feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace [Eph 6:15]. He must go in order to preach. His going will even take him into the mountains [remote areas, hard to get to, requiring effort].
With beautiful feet we:
Bring good tidings – the gospel is good news – when the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds he said “I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people,” [Lk 2:10] – what we have to preach is not bad news and yet we often speak with the expression of an undertaker – Jesus loved sinners enough to take our place and to die for us – he loves sinners enough to intercede for them – he loves us enough to give us the joy of carrying this good news to others and to reward us for doing it [1 Thes 2:19-20].
Publish peace – we are ambassadors for Christ to preach to others that they might be reconciled to God [2 Cor 5:20] – they can have “peace with God through out Lord Jesus Christ,” [Rom 5:1] – if the world wants anything today, it is peace.
Publish salvation – they need to know the goodness of God and they need to know the peace of God but they also need to know the salvation of God – the Lord “will have all men to be saved,” [1 Tim 2:4] – in order to see that we must all preach the gospel of salvation [Rom 10:9-13] – we are the preachers who have been sent by the Lord [Jn 20:21].
Conclusion: Take a look at your feet. Are they beautiful? If not then it is time to shoe them with the gospel of peace and head to the mountains.
