Helping Others Gal.6:2 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Helping others to bear their burdens has many benefits. The benefits of helping others are:
You lighten their burden – Gal 6:2. When you help someone with a job you lighten their load. Many hands make light work. By helping them you make their unmanageable work manageable.
You fulfill he law of Christ – Gal 6:2; Rom 13:8-10. The law of Christ is that we are to love one another. When you help someone you demonstrate your love for them particularly when you are led by the Spirit and filled with the Spirit to help them. Unfortunately, sometimes our good efforts on another’s behalf go sour because we didn’t offer to help in love and so couldn’t bear the burden as 1 Cor 13 shows us.
You strengthen your friendship – Prov 18:24. You show yourself friendly. And nothing seems to strengthen a friendship better than providing a helping hand.
You increase your joy – Phil 2:17. When your service and sacrifice are for the benefit of another’s faith, to strengthen them in their walk with the Lord, you will find joy. Just as there is joy in leading them to Christ [Lk 15:10; 1 Thes 2:19-20]. Some of my friends helped me at a low point in the ministry and their joy was noticeable at the time and, even more so, now that the Lord has blessed their efforts in a very fruitful ministry today. So, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Friends will help you and you won’t end up mad at them for not offering. There will be so many benefits that they will be glad you asked.
You finish the job – Ex 17:10-13. Joshua couldn’t have defeated Amalek by sun down if Aaron and Hur hadn’t helped Moses hold up the rod.
You lighten your burdens – Gal 6:2. As you help others, others help you. Furthermore, you learn things by working with others that will help you when you have tasks to complete [Gal 6:4-5].
Conclusion: These are some of the many beneficial reasons to help others. You will find these to be true when you help others and you will find the opposite to be true when you don’t.
