Your heart is probably the most important part of the temple of the Holy Ghost.  There are too many things about it for us to cover in one lesson.  So, today we will cover some of the most important positive aspects of your heart in the temple of the Holy Ghost.

For your heart to even be in the temple of the Holy Ghost, you must be saved.  Salvation is more than just a confession with your mouth; it is belief in your heart.  Anyone can get another person to pray a prayer, but only God can save a soul who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ with his heart [Rom 10:9-10].

And the better your heart is the more fruitful your Christian life will be.  If the seed of the word of God is sown in an “honest and good heart,” [Lk 8:15] then the word of God is going to be much more fruitful than if it is sown in a heart cumbered with cares, and riches, and pleasures of this life.

To really have a heart that the Holy Spirit can use in his temple, it is important that you love the Lord your God with all of your heart [Matt 22:37].  In order to make sure that all of your heart is available to love him, you must keep your heart with all diligence [Prov 4:23].  One of the best ways to do that is to obey from the heart the doctrine that the Lord gives you [Rom 6:17].  By exposing your heart continually to the words of God the thoughts and intents of your heart will be discerned [Heb 4:12].

As you read, study and digest the word of God your faith is strengthened because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.  Since Christ dwells in your heart by faith [Eph 3:17], as your faith increases you will be rooted and grounded in love.  Simultaneously, you need to trust in the Lord with all of your heart [Prov 3:5-6].  He is trustworthy; you just need to trust him.

The obvious result of obeying, loving and trusting the Lord in your life is real peace [Jn 14:27].  By depending upon the peace of God your heart won’t be troubled.  Furthermore, the love of God will be shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit [Rom 5:5].  You will be a great blessing to Christians, because your love will be godly and your peace will be strong.  Notice what God’s love shed abroad in the early church did for them; they were of one heart [Acts 4:32].  You will also be a better witness to the lost because they will see the love and peace of God in you to match your testimony.
