Our Old Man is Crucified Rom. 6:6 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

Rom 6:6 says that our old man is crucified with Christ. There are some things to which we must die if we are going to live for Christ and not for ourselves.  This sermon outline is not original with me.  The outline is part of a sermon preached by a missionary in a recent mission’s conference.  We must:

Die to Self – we die to ourselves so that the life of Christ may be manifest in us [2 Cor 4:10-11] – I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me [Gal 2:20] – and this is a daily death [1 Cor 15:31] – He must increase, but I must decrease [Jn 3:30] – we must die to our self-love, our self-righteousness, our self-esteem, our self-desires, our self-pity, our self-praise, our selfishness, etc.

Die to Sin – we can no longer serve sin [Rom 6:6-22] – we must deny it and die to it in every form it appears and in every capacity it affects in our being – we must die to the sins of the flesh, the heart, the imagination, and the will – we must die to those things we do that we ought not to do and to those things that we don’t do that we ought to do.

Die to Serve – our bodies are to be presented to the Lord as a living sacrifice [Rom 12:1-2] – Jesus Christ came to this earth to do his Father’s will, not his own [Jn 6:38] – and as he came to serve [Phil 2:7] so we must serve – we are to serve the Lord [1 Thes 1:9] and we are to serve others [Gal 5:13].

Conclusion: You are going to eventually die a physical death and your life will end – the greatest way to enjoy your life on this side of glory is to reckon yourself to be dead now [Rom 6:11] – if you will die to self, die to sin and die to serve, you will find your utmost fulfillment in your life here because Christ will be able to fully live his life in you.
