Eph 5:20 Giving Thanks Always for All Things CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

Eph 5:20 tells us that we should be giving thanks always for all things.  There are so many things about which to be thankful, it is impossible to name them all here.  And we should be thankful always for them.  Here are a few.

We should be giving thanks always for:

Our salvation – our salvation required the shed blood of Jesus.  What a tremendous price he paid for us.  He offered us salvation as a free gift; we didn’t pay one thing for it.  And on top of that we have eternal security.  We will never lose this salvation that he has given us.  Thank God.

God’s words – Prov 22:21 speaks of the certainty of the words of God.  I am absolutely certain that the King James Bible is the word of God.  And the Lord gives us understanding of these words.  Our growth comes from these words.  There is direction and light in these words.  And these words are the truth and it is the truth that makes us free.  Thank God.

A sound mind – 2 Tim 1:7 – in Christ we have power and love and a sound mind.  There are so many mental disorders today and many of these disorders are connected with fear (anxiety).  We should be thankful that God gave us the mind of Christ and we should be thankful that we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  Thank God.

Answered prayer – God answers prayer.  Therefore, the more you pray the more you will have for which to be thankful, because God certainly answers prayer.  Thank God.

The grace of God – 2 Cor 12:7-10 – it is the grace of God that strengthens us in times of weakness.  By thanking God for his grace we no longer concentrate on the adverse situations and circumstances that give rise to our weakness, but rather we magnify the grace of God.  If it weren’t for the grace of God we couldn’t do anything worthwhile for the Lord. Thank God.

The fruit of the Spirit – Gal 5:22-23 – when was the last time that you thanked God for all this wonderful fruit of the Spirit.  The beautiful thing about this fruit is that the longer you live as a Christian and the more you grow, the more evident all of this fruit becomes in your life.  You are constantly growing and improving in the Lord.  Thank God.

Our home in heaven – Jn 14:1-6 – we are not to love the world; we are not to be friends of the world.  The longer that you are saved and live for the Lord the more you desire heaven, the more your affection is set on things above and the less you want to stay in this old world.  Thank God for our home in heaven and the assurance that we are going to live forever with Jesus.  Thank God.

Conclusion: keep thanking God for these things and the many other things that come to mind for which you can be thankful.  Thankfulness will definitely magnify all that the Lord does and has done for you and it will cause you to quit thinking about the things that discourage you and cause you to despair.
