You praise the God of praise with:

Thanksgiving – David said, “Give thanks unto the Lord.”  This is the attitude of gratitude.  1 Thes 5:18 tells us that it is the will of God to give thanks to the Lord in all things!  And we should because of Rom 8:28.  And even when what you are in seems like a bad circumstance, Eph 5:20 tells us to give thanks for all things.

Prayer – David said, “Call upon his name.”  We do that in prayer.  According to Lk 18:1 we ought always to pray.  In 1 Thes 5:17 we are to pray without ceasing.  In 1 Tim 2:1-3 prayer is the first thing.  Particularly in this election year we need to be reminded to pray first!!

Witnessing – David said, “Make known his deeds among the people.”  This is witnessing.  When the Spirit of God is in you and you are filled with him, you are going to witness [Acts 1:8].  The Spirit of God in us causes us to proclaim his word boldly [Acts 4:31].  The Spirit in us will cause us to glorify Jesus [Jn 16:13-14].

Singing – David said, “Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him.”  Singing is a great way to praise the Lord.  Unfortunately, in most traditional services the congregation doesn’t sing, or they sing so softly as to not be heard.  And in the modern praise and worship services the words of the music have very little to do with the words of Christ.  In Eph 5:19 and Col 3:16 we are supposed to sing loud enough to be heard clearly by others, we are supposed to make melody in our hearts to the Lord, and the words of the songs we sing are supposed to teach and admonish us with the word of Christ.

Fellowship – David said, “Talk ye of all his wondrous works.”  In Mal 3:16 a book of remembrance is written containing the testimonies of those who have seen the wondrous works of God.  The best fellowship at home and at church is centered on the Lord.

Conclusion: These five things will cause your heart to be uplifted in praise to the God of praise.
