Trust God Ps.118: 8-9 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man or in princes. The reason that it is better to trust God is that when we trust God:
God gives us help – Ps 28:7 – God can help you better than any man can. Men can’t always help you. Men are limited in wealth, in power and in influence whereas God is abundant in all three. The baker forgot to help Joseph when he was in prison. Yet, when the Lord gave Pharaoh a dream, then the Lord not only got Joseph out but he promoted him to second man in the kingdom. There was no man that could get Jesus out of the grave. God was the only one who could help him. And he can help you, too.
God gives us protection – Ps 18:2 – see also Ps 11:1. When Jehoshaphat and Judah were being attacked by Moab, Ammon and the children of Seir, God protected them. They didn’t even have to fight the battle. When Rahab housed her family in her house on the wall, God protected them. The entire wall of Jericho fell down flat and yet her house remained standing. Only God could grant that kind of precise protection. And he can protect you, too.
God gives us courage – Ps 112:7 – see also Ps 56:3, 11; 118:6; 27:1. You are hearing evil tidings regularly in the news. And as we get closer to the coming of the Lord, you are going to hear even more bad news. However, we do not have to fear. We can continue to walk with God through all of this with courage because we trust God.
God gives us direction – Prov 3:5-6 – the most common question I am asked in the ministry has to do with the Lord’s direction. People want to know what they should do under certain circumstances. When you trust God he will give you direction. And when he leads you into stormy waters there is no need to fear. You will come out at the right place.
God gives us peace – Ps 26:3 – When you trusts God he gives you perfect peace. The world wants peace. They are after peace and prosperity. Only God can give you perfect peace. Only God can give you the peace that passeth all understanding. He will keep you settled down when everyone else is scared to death.
God gives us happiness – Prov 16:20 – the happiest Christians are the ones who trust God. You don’t have to go around looking for things or people to MAKE you happy. By simply and fully trusting God you will be happy. God will never let you down. If you trust him with each aspect of your life, you will find out that what God does in you turns out right every time!!
God gives us fulfillment – Ps 37:3-5 – David said, “… trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul. The blessing of trusting God is knowing that you are going to finish and you are going to finish well. Jesus did and so will you.
Conclusion: by all means, trust God. The reasons are absolutely compelling.
