We are to be fellowhelpers to the truth.  In other words, we are to help each other with the Bible.

We need help understanding the Bible – Acts 8:30-31 – the Ethiopian eunuch could not understand the passage in Isaiah he was reading without some help from Philip.  Though the Holy Spirit is the teacher, he uses men to teach and to train.  Therefore, we have Sunday school classes, men’s and women’s Bible studies, discipleship studies [we need more of this], radio broadcasts and postings on our internet website.  If you are having a hard time understanding something in the Bible ask for help.  Bob DeMars, after he was saved, would keep a running list of Bible questions.  Once a month he and I would get together and answer his questions.

We need help ministering the Bible – Phil 2:25-30 – Ministers are to give themselves “continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word,” [Acts 6:4].  To get this done, Paul depended heavily upon men like Epaphroditus and women like Phebe [Rom 16:1-2; Phil 4:3].  If it weren’t for the help of all the volunteers in this church there is no way that we could minister the words of God to the degree that we do.  Thank God for our Sunday school teachers so that we can teach various age levels and our Bible club teachers so that we can teach our children mid-week.  Volunteers handling music, nursery, cleaning, maintenance and so forth are fellowhelpers so that we can concentrate on ministering the word.

We need help witnessing with the Bible – Mk 6:7; Lk 10:1 – we can certainly witness to others without waiting for a partner to help us.  However, we often need help witnessing and we are much more encouraged when we have someone with us.  That’s why Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs.  Solomon said, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, the one will left up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up,” [Ecc 4:9-10].

Bro. Dickman was used of the Lord to help open the door of the gospel to my father.  I needed the help.  Many times church members have asked me to help them witness to their family members.  Daryl Robinson established a “program” called Total Church Life based on this principle.  100 of us raised our hands last Sunday indicating that we knew someone well for whom we had been praying that we hadn’t witnessed to in a long while.  If you need help witnessing to them, get some help.  We are here to help you.

We need help sowing the Bible – Mk 4:3, 14 – the seed of the word of God must be sown regularly in order for there to ever be a harvest.  We certainly pass out tracts individually during the normal course of the day.  As Jn 4:37 says, “One soweth, and another reapeth.”  But Jn 4:38 goes on to say, “I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men labored, and ye are entered into their labours.”  Notice men labored in their labors.  In sowing and reaping, we need the help and you need the experience.  What you learn from sowing often makes you bolder in witnessing.

Conclusion: Help someone understand the Bible, help us minister the word, let us help you witness and let’s help each other sow the word.
