Can Christianity and Islam be reconciled? No.
There are those who would have you believe that the God of Christianity and the god of Islam are the same God that simply go by different names. However, a study of the Koran and the Bible shows you clearly that these two religions cannot be reconciled. If you profess to be a Christian, you cannot pretend to be worshipping God by observing the religion of Islam in the name of Allah. If you are a Muslim, you cannot pretend to be worshiping Allah by professing Christianity. For a Muslim to profess Christianity would be to denounce Islam.
The reasons that Islam and Christianity cannot be reconciled are numerous. Here are some of the reasons:
The Koran says that we were commanded to worship but One Allah; there is no god but He. Allah’s curse is commanded for those who take Christ the son of Mary for their Lord, Sura 9:30-31. The Bible says that Jesus is the Son of God and that he is God manifest in the flesh and that he is one with the Father, Lk 1:35. 1 Tim 3:16; Jn 10:30, 1 Jn 5:7. He is our Lord, Rom 10:9-10; Phil 2:9-11. Contrast Sura 4:171
The Koran commands Muslims to fight those who believe not in Allah, Sura 9:29. Christians don’t believe in Allah. We believe in God, the Father of Jesus, and in the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Jn 2:22-23 says that an antichrist denies the Father and the Son.
The Koran commands Muslims to fight and slay Pagans. A Pagan is one who is not a Muslim, Sura 9:5. However, Jesus came to save men’s lives, not destroy them, and certainly wouldn’t let his disciples destroy them, Lk 9:51-56.
The Koran says Hell is for those who reject Allah, Sura 35:36; 50:24. But according to the Bible, hell was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41. Those who reject God and his words [not Allah] go there, Jn 12:48-49; Matt 23:33. Those who reject the salvation of Jesus Christ go there, Heb 2:3; Jn 3:18, 36.
The Koran says that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah, Sura 48:29. The Bible says that the Apostles were given to the church by Jesus Christ (Eph 4:11) and consisted of the original 12 disciples, less Judas Iscariot, with the addition of Matthias (Matt 10:2-4; Acts 1:26), Barnabas and Paul (Acts 14:14) and probably James the Lord’s brother (Gal 1:19). Muhammad is not in the list (2 Cor 11:13; Rev 2:2).
The Koran teaches that Muslims escape hell by their good deeds and are granted entrance in the Gardens as a result, Sura 39:70-74. The Bible says that salvation is apart from works and is based solely on imputed righteousness for putting our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary, Eph 2:8-9; Tit 3:5; Rom 4:5-8; 2 Cor 5:21; Rom 10:3-4.
The Koran forbids Muslims to take Jews and Christians for friends, Sura 5:51. So, that pretty well eliminates any chance for reconciliation.
Those who have tried to get Muslims and Christians together for political and economic reasons are setting the stage for the worst wars among nations this world has ever seen. The only way they can pull off their schemes is to convince people that Muslims and Christians can work together for world peace. Don’t buy it. The God of the Bible and the God of Islam are not the same God. They are enemies. Jesus said, “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad,” Matt 12:30.
Conclusion: these contrasts between the Koran and the Bible show just some of the differences between Islam and Christianity. There are many more. These show enough to help you understand that you cannot reconcile the differences between the two.
