Israel Served False Gods Jud 10:6-9 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In Jud 10:6-9 Israel served Baalim and the gods of the nations around them. Interestingly, they were attacked by the same countries whose gods they served. There are grave national implications to us in the United States concerning this same problem.
The Lord commanded them not to worship these gods – worshipping these gods would affect:
- Their relationship to God [they would forget him, Jud 10:6; Deut 8:19],
- Their art [that’s why they were told to destroy the pictures in Num 33:52],
- Their music [idolatry and music are connected, Dan 3:4-6, Ex 32:17-18],
- Their morality [adultery Lev 20:1-5, 10-11; fornication 2 Chr 21:11],
- Their sexuality [homosexuality and bestiality, Lev 18:22-28],
- Their marriages [marrying people they weren’t supposed to marry, Deut 7:1-4],
- Their children [children were killed in the worship of Molech, Lev 18:21], and
- Their country [said he would destroy the country and scatter them, 1 Ki 9:6-7].
All of these things have happened to us in the United States. We are forgetting God. Ps 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Ps 9:17 says, “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Our art, music, and movies have all been affected. Adultery and fornication are as common place as marriage. Sexuality and marriages are confused. Bestiality is surely on the horizon. Children are murdered to the gods of women’s reproductive health and sex. Our country is mired in the pollution of all of these things. Global warming is the ruse to keep your mind off the real problem. Liberals promise liberty and lead you into bondage [2 Pet 2:18-22].
The Lord raised up enemies against them for serving these gods – Jud 10:7-9 – the Lord was watching them in Jud 10:6. Israel served the gods of the nations around them and then they were attacked by the very nations whose gods they worshipped. This is exactly what the Lord said would happen to them [Deut 28:25, 47-53].
In the United States we have been promoting Islam as a religion of peace. Mosques are springing up around the country. There were over 2,100 mosques in the U.S. as of 2010. Indoctrination is taking place in schools. Political correctness restrains public conscience. And we have set ourselves up to be attacked as a result of all the immorality connected with the worship of false gods taking place in this country.
Their only hope was humility, repentance and trusting in the Lord – Jud 10:10-16 – time and time again, Israel would face an enemy that was about to rout them and they would return to the Lord. Each time he had mercy on them until the Assyrians finally destroyed the 10 northern tribes and the Chaldeans destroyed the 2 southern tribes.
Conclusion: America’s only hope is to return to God and repent. Short of that there is no hope. You should turn to God personally, and then as a family, and then as a church, and so forth. Perhaps the Lord will have mercy on us like he promised Abraham he would have on Sodom and Gomorrah if he could just find 10 righteous people there.
