When Jesus saved you he gave you the mind of Christ [1 Cor 2:16].  All Christians have the mind of Christ but not all Christians use the mind of Christ.  Today, we are going to examine this mind so that you will understand it and, hopefully, start thinking with the mind of Christ rather than with your old carnal mind.  The mind of Christ is a:

Right mind – Mk 5:15 – instantly, after the devil had been cast out of this man, he had a right mind; he was sitting and clothed and in his right mind.   Notice what this man was involved in when he was possessed with the devil.  He was consumed with death; he was dwelling among the tombs.  He was flaunting his flesh; he was naked.  He was super strong; his chains were plucked asunder.  He lived in the mountains; he was “high.”  He was crying; like depression and self-pity.  He was cutting himself; his emotional pain was transferred to physical pain.  These are symptoms of a mind that is not right.  After you get saved, know and believe that you have been given a right mind and stay away from these things after you get save.

Sound mind – 2 Tim 1:7 – God gives us a sound mind.  Fear is what keeps us from being able to think with this mind.  But you have it and the power and love that comes with it.  Use your sound mind and don’t be afraid to make and live by the right decisions.

Humble mind – Phil 2:5-8 – you must humble yourself like Jesus did and be obedient to the Lord.  Men who learn the Bible approach this book with a believing heart and a humble mind.

Renewed mind – Rom 12:2; Eph 4:23 – to transform your mind and bring it back into a good condition, you need steady and constant exposure to the reading, studying, teaching and preaching of the words of God.

Pure mind – 2 Pet 3:1 – unto the pure all things are pure Titus 1:15. Many of us had minds which were impure because of all the impurities that we put in them before we were saved.  We must think on things that are pure and keep every impure thought out of our minds.

Exclusive mind – Matt 22:37 – we are to love the Lord with all our mind.  The trouble is that people’s minds are tied up with and distracted by many other things.  Therefore, they do not love the Lord exclusively with their mind.  We must remove everything that keeps us from loving Jesus with all our mind.

Conclusion: when you protect your right mind and cease to expose it to things that are wrong, when you think with a sound mind because you only fear the Lord, when you humble your mind, when you renew your mind, when you keep your mind pure and when you love the Lord with all your mind, you will have a peaceful mind [Is 26:3; Ruth 1:18; Phil 4:7].  When your mind is stayed on Jesus you are at peace and when you are at peace your mind is kept.  Wach reinforces the other.
