Abundant Power Eph. 3: 20-21

Abundant Power Eph. 3: 20-21 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

With our abundant life, we are given abundant power.  Many Christians don’t “tap into” the power that worketh in us.  Paul said that with this power, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.  What is this abundant power?  It is:

His regenerating power – Rom 1:16, 1 Cor 1:18 – it is the power to save us and to regenerate us; to make us new creatures in Christ.  To have this regenerating power, we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

His resident power – 2 Cor 4:7 – when we are saved, God lives in us and, thus, his power is in us.  Jesus lives inside of us.  And Jesus said that all power was given unto him in heaven and in earth [Matt 28:18].  We must let him use his power to do things in us that we cannot do.  The Holy Spirit lives in us and through him we have power [Acts 1:8].  To “tap into’ God’s power, we must yield.  See also, 1 Cor 2:4-5.  Paul said, “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might,” [Eph 6:10].

His written power – Lk 4:32 – we are born again by his word [Jas 1:18; 1 Pet 1:23].  Everything in the universe is held together by the word of his power [Heb 1:3].  Heb 4:12 says that the word of God is quick and powerful.  To “tap into” this power we must read, believe and live by the words of God.

His resurrection power – Eph 1:19-20 – the power that raised Jesus from the grave is the power that resides in us.  To “tap into” this power, we must be made “conformable unto his death,” [Phil 3:10].  We won’t use this power if we are still trying to gratify the old man.

Why don’t we see this abundant power in our lives? Because of:

Unbelief (or ignorance) – Matt 22:29 – the Sadducees missed the power of God and erred “not knowing the scriptures.”

Hypocrisy – 2 Tim 3:5 – powerless Christians “have a form of godliness but (deny) the power thereof.”

Fear – 2 Tim 1:7 – God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  Fear “zaps” the power of God from you.

Conclusion: we have abundant life in Jesus Christ.  With this abundant life comes abundant power.  We have this abundant power; we must allow God to manifest and utilize it in us.
