In the prior broadcast we saw that Christians could be possessed with the devil.  Today, we’ll see how to get the devil out.  And tomorrow we’ll see how to keep him out.  To get the Devil out of your life:

Get saved — 1 Jn 3:10; Acts 26:18 — when you get saved, you are no longer a child of the devil.  You become a child of God (Jn 1:12).  You are a new creature in Christ (2 Cor 5:17).  You have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16).  You have a “sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7; Mk 5:15).

Be filled with the Spirit — Eph 5:18 — you can’t be filled with the devil when you are filled with the Spirit.  Jesus cast out devils by the Spirit of God (Matt 12:28).

Turn from your sin — 2 Tim 2:24-26 — Repent, acknowledge the truth and recover yourself out of the snare of the devil.  Listen to those who are instructing you with the truth about the true nature of your problem.

Straighten out your doctrine — 1 Tim 4:1, 2 Cor 11:13-15 — don’t give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.  Humbly receive and believe the words of God.  Jesus cast out devils with his word (Matt 8:16).  This is where you find the wisdom from above (Jas 3:17-18; contrast Jas 3:14-16).

Listen to the right spiritual music — 1 Sam 16:14-16, 23; Eph 5:18-20.  David played with the harp and Saul was refreshed and the evil spirit left him.

Ask the Lord to rebuke the devil — Matt 17:18 — When the Lord cast out devils, he rebuked them. Just say, “The Lord rebuke thee” (Jude 9; Zech 3:1-2), like Michael and the Lord said.

Forgive others — 2 Cor. 2:9-11; Gal 6:1 — when you don’t forgive, Satan gets an advantage.  To cut off that advantage, forgive others. Otherwise, bitterness will spring up and defile many (Heb 12:15).  Get the bitterness and anger out (Eph 4:30-32).

Conclusion: since the devil can possess a person, even a Christian, it is important to know the Biblical means by which to get the devil out.  These are practical and scriptural ways to deal with devil possession.
