Questions are often asked about the things done in the body that are judged at the judgment seat of Christ.  Those who ask, generally, want to know if sins in our bodies are judged.  Or if this is a judgment of good and bad deeds?

These questions are asked by Christians who know that our sins have been paid for at Calvary.  People can’t understand how we might face sins at the judgment seat of Christ if those sins have already been judged on Jesus.

Here are some thoughts to consider.

It is evident that Calvary redeemed us from the second death [Rev 21:8; Rev 20:6].  We know that we aren’t going to hell.  But we still suffer physical death, the death of our bodies [Rom 6:23], until the rapture [Jn 11:25-26; 1 Thes 4:13-18].  So, the sins in our bodies still take their toll [Gal 6:7-8].  We still die physical deaths.  We still reap what we sow.

Furthermore, our bodies, after we get saved, are the temple of the Holy Ghost, because they have been bought by God; they are his [1 Cor 6:19-20].  And since we have been crucified with Christ, the lives we live in our flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God [Gal 2:20].

Therefore, our bodies are very important to the Lord.  We are to present our bodies to the Lord as a living sacrifice through which God can accomplish his perfect will [Rom 12:1-2].  We have the capacity, by the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in us, to live without sin having dominion over us [Rom 6:12-14].  We, through the Spirit, have the capacity to mortify the deeds of the body [Rom 8:13].  If we let sin reign in our bodies and we don’t mortify the deeds of the flesh, we are accountable to God for these deeds and sins [Rom 14:10-12].

Thus, at the judgment seat of Christ, we are going to be judged for the things that were done in our bodies [2 Cor 5:10].  We will be rewarded for the good things that we have done [Col 3:24] and we will suffer loss for the bad things we have done [Col 3:25].  Those bad things will include sins done in our bodies.  That’s why confession of sin is so important [1 Jn 1:9; Prov 28:13; 1 Cor 11:31, 2 Cor 7:1].  That,’s why it is so important to forsake sin and yield to the righteousness of Jesus Christ in us.
