Wine, Oil and Bread Ps 104:15

Wine Oil Bread Ps. 104: 13-15 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In Ps 104:15 we see that God brings forth out of the earth wine, oil and bread.  Wine makes your heart glad, oil makes your face shine and bread strengthens your heart.  These three things also typify spiritual objects which are highly necessary and beneficial to us.  Perhaps you will find that you are lacking in one of these.  If so, you can take what the Lord shows you and benefit from it tonight.

Wine is a type of the blood of Christ – Matt 26:27-28; Deut 32:14 – as wine makes your heart glad, so applying the blood of Christ to your sin makes your heart glad, as well.  If you have ever seen someone right after they have gotten saved, their burden of sin is lifted and their heart is glad.  The blood of Christ removes the heaviness in your heart [Prov 12:25].  The blood of Christ cleanses you from ALL sin, not only when you get saved but also after you are saved.  There is no benefit looking back, regretting your sin and wallowing in shame.  Jesus would say, like the song, “What sins are you talking about? I don’t remember them anymore.”

Oil is a type of the Holy Spirit – 1 Cor 16:13; Ex 34:29-30; Acts 6:15.  The spirit of God made Moses’ face shine.  Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost and his face shone as the face of an angel.  The you are filled with the Spirit, your countenance reveals it.  There is evidence of peace [part of the fruit of the Spirit]  in your heart and it is visible on your face.  A doctor who prays with his patients said, after praying with a particular patient, that the peace of God had removed all the lines of stress and strain on her face.

Bread is a type of the word of God – Matt 4:4; Ezek 2:9-3:3 as bread strengthens man’s heart, so the word of God strengthens you.  It is able to build you up [Acts 20:32].  You must read it and digest it.  Like Bro. Hoffmeister said, “It’s not how many times you’ve been through the Bible that counts; it’s how many times the Bible has been through you.”  You must get in the book and be nourished by the book.

Conclusion: if the Lord has pointed out an area of weakness in your life during this sermon, then apply the remedy: wine, oil or bread to strengthen that weakness.
