The Devil’s Lies, Jn 8:44

The Devil’s Lies Jn 8: 44 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO of The Devil’s Lies

According to Jn 8:44, the devil is a liar and the father of all lies.  He took over the human race in the garden of Eden.  He did it by lying.  The devil has three advantages.  One, he can use you like you are.  For the Lord to use you, he must make you a new creature.  Two, man is more prone to believe a lie than he is the truth.  Three, lies spread; the truth doesn’t.  Like the Psalmist said, “all men are liars,” [Ps 116:11].

Jesus said, “I am the truth,” [Jn 14:6].  So, God and the devil are mutually exclusive when it comes to telling the truth.  And we are at a disadvantage as Christians.  Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. said that self-denial and a cross are the way of the Christian life.  He said, “It’s never been easy, since the fall of man, to do right.  We run against the stream of culture and worldliness.”

Some of the devil’s lies are these:

God is not the Creator.  God’s book starts out with creation in Gen 1:1.  But the lie is that God didn’t create us and this universe.  So-called “wise” professors deny the Creator Rom 1:20-25.   Creation itself and angels testify of the true Creator [Ps 19:1-6; Acts 17:23-29; Rev 14:6-7].

God’s words are not true.  This is how the devil first attacked the human race [Gen 3:1-4].  But see Ps 119:160; Jn 17:17.  The lie goes like this today: God’s words are not preserved in writing [Ps 12:6-7].  Therefore, you have a right to quote scripture as you please [like the devil did in Matt 4:6 and Lk 4:10; contrast Ps 91:11-13].  In Jn 16:13, the Spirit of truth comes to guide you into all truth.  If what you are quoting isn’t truth, then you are quoting a lie and you will be as blind as the Pharisees were [Matt 23:16, 24].  Your lights will be out [Is 8:20].  Look what’s coming to those who refuse to believe the truth [2 Thes 2:10-12].

You have a right to do what you want.  Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. said, “The worst temptation is the temptation to do what you want to do.  Naturally, we don’t want to do right.  We are inclined that way.  It came with the fall.  We don’t want to be restricted.”  In Jud 17:6, “every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”  According to Prov 14:12, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”  As God’s child you are here to do his will [Phil 2:12-13; Rev 4:11; Eph 2:10].  If what you are doing is not his will, then you are doing the the devil’s will.  It’s that simple.

All religions worship the same god [Jud 2:11-13].  They do.  They worship the god of this world [2 Cor 4:3-4].  See 2 Cor 11:13-15.  They believe that religion is the key to salvation.  Religions, like the fig leaves, just hide your true condition [the naked truth].  Religionists look at themselves and think they are hiding their true condition from God [Gen 3:8].

You are good if you do good.  God is the standard of good [Matt 19:17].  Therefore, if you do not match his standard of good, then you aren’t good [Rom 3:12; Ecc 7:20] no matter who you are.  But man will justify himself.  Saul did [1 Sam 15].  The Pharisees did [Lk 16:15; 18:9-14].

The temporal is more important than the eternal.  This is true with man, but not with God.  Look what Paul said in Col 3:2 and 2 Cor 4:18.  Our inheritance is what matters to God; not what we have or don’t have down here.

You can obtain eternal life after you die.  Religions make you believe that you can be rewarded with eternal life after you die.  The truth is, if you don’t have eternal life when you die, you will never have it.  You must have it now to have it in eternity [1 Jn 5:12; Jn 3:18, 36].
