How Does God Reveal His Will? (Part Four)

How Does God Reveal His Will?

Eph.5:17

Part Four

The Testimony of the Circumstances

Circumstances can be used as a guidepost in the direction that God may be leading. Traffic lights come in three colors, so that we will know when to go, to stop, or proceed with caution. But unlike traffic lights we too often miss read our circumstances.

[2Cor:2:12] Caution is needed when you find yourself headed for an open door, Did God open it, or Satan? (major purchase because they approved your credit, who opened that door?)

[Judges 6:37-39] Be careful throwing out a fleece, that you don’t arrange circumstances for your choice!

37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.
38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.
40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

Because of the troubles in my path, I must be in God’s will. [1 Cor.16:9] Your Adversary

[2Tim.3:12] The Lord may be correcting you, because you are not doing his will [Prov.3:11-12]

Because of Urgency [Prov.14:29] Hasty = foolish. Step back and examine the urgency of your decision.

The Testimony of the Circumstances, when used alone, are a dangerous method to ascertain God’s will. On the way to church you had a flat tire: What is the meaning of this circumstance?

  1. The Lord delayed your travel so that you would miss being involved in a horrible wreck.
  2. The Lord was trying your resolve to be in church that Sunday.
  3. The Lord was confirming your wife’s complaints about the tires needing to be replaced.
  4. Satan wanted you to miss church today.
  5. Satan wanted you to loose your testimony in front of your wife and children.
  6. Satan was mad that you witnessed to your coworker last week.
  7. Or, you ran over a nail?

When Circumstances are used to confirm the other three, then you got something! Circumstances are the mileage markers(guidepost) along your path that confirm your direction.
