Examples of Faith (Hebrews Ch. 11)
Lesson #6 Joseph (Verse 22)
In this lesson we are going to look at the example of Joseph. Our thought for the lesson is “Faith makes Eternity more real for us”.
Looking at Joseph :
- Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers at a very young age.
- Joseph was falsely accused by his master’s wife and thrown into prison.
- Joseph was let out of prison to interpret pharaoh’s dream and with God doing the interpretation Joseph became second in command of Egypt.
- Joseph saved Egypt and his family from the famine.
- Joseph told Israel before his death that God would visit them and take them out of Egypt and when he did they were to take his bones with them. (Genesis 50:24,25)
- This was fulfilled in Exodus 13:19.
What can we see that is valuable for us from the example of Joseph’s faith?
1) Trials make our faith stronger (1 Peter 1:7)
- Victory over the little trials of life help increase our faith. This makes having faith in big things of life like eternity more real to us.
2) Faith makes heaven more real to us (2 Corinthians 5:1-8)
- By the word of God we can know for sure exactly where we are going when we die.
3) Faith focus our view on things that are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:15-18)
- If we can take our eyes of the present trial or affliction, we can then see what will truly last and be valuable in eternity.
4) Faith about tomorrow will affect how we live today (2 Corinthians 5:9-11)
- Imagaine how different our lives would be if we thought that today would be the last day that we would have on this earth.
