Examples of Faith (Hebrews Ch.11) : Lesson #8 Moses

Examples of Faith (Hebrews Ch. 11)

Lesson #8 Moses (Verse 23-30)

In this lesson we are going to look at the example of Moses. Our thought for the lesson is “Faith must be a way of life”.

In this passage of Hebrews Moses is said to do serval things by or through faith. We will list these are listed below. In this lesson we will look at how these things show that faith was a way of life for Moses.

1)  Refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s Daughter (verse 24)

2)  Forssook Egypt (verse 26)

3)  Kept the Passover (verse 28)

4)  Passed through the Red Sea (verse 29)

What is the spiritual application for us from this example?

1)  It takes faith to separate (2 Corinthians 6:17 – 7:1)

  • When Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s Daughter he made a choice, when we choose salvation we are making a similar choice we are refusing to be children of the devil.
  • This choice led Moses to suffer affliction and our choice will can cause us the same thing (2 Timothy 3:12). This is where faith must govern our lives.

2)  Faith is what gets us through our separation (Colossians 3:1-3)

  • Moses endured as seeing him who was invisible. Separation is hard but faith is what will get us through, but we must look upward.

3)  By faith he practiced what he preached (1 Timothy 4:12)

  • When Moses kept the Passover he was practicing what he preached, remember that he had children also.
  • We must be a good example and that requires a life governed by faith.

4)  Faith will deliver us in the end (1 Peter 1:3-9).

  • It was not until Moses and Israel crossed the Red Sea, and Pharaoh and his army were drowned trying to cross that they were fully delivered from Egypt.
  • One day either at the rapture of the Church or at death our faith will end in sight, but until then we must let faith govern every aspect of our lives.
