Gal 1:1-5 The Gifts of Jesus Christ CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

The gifts of Jesus to us are many.  In the first five verses of Galatians 1 we find that the Lord gave:

Apostleship to Paul (Gal 1:1) – according to Eph 4:8-16, the function of this gift was to benefit and strengthen the church.  Paul said that he was the least of the apostles because he had persecuted the church of God [1 Cor 15:8-9].

Churches to Saints (Gal 1:2) – we are blessed to have local churches where we can assemble, fellowship and minister with other believers.  There were several churches in Galatia.  Galatia is a region in Turkey.  When you and I get saved, we are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ.

Grace to You (Gal 1:3) – we are told to come boldly to God’s throne of grace to obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need [Heb 4:16].  Grace gives you God’s strength when you work.  Jesus said, “Without me ye can do nothing,” [Jn 15:5].

Peace to You (Gal 1:3) – peace is on part of the fruit of the Spirit [Gal 5:22-23].  When we pray and supplicate with thanksgiving, God gives us his peace which passes all understanding [Phil 4:6-7].

Himself to You (Gal 1:4) – he gave himself for our sins.  God gave Jesus Christ to the world so that we could believe on him and be saved [Jn 3:16].  When you have the Son you have life [1 Jn 5:12].  Matt 1:21 says that his name is Jesus because he saves us from our sins.  He bore our sins in his own body on the tree [1 Pet 2:24].

Deliverance to You (Gal 1:4) – he delivered us from this present EVIL WORLD.  We are not to love this world [1 Jn 2:15-17].  Friendship with the world is enmity with God [Jas 4:4].  And this is the will of God that we be separated and delivered from the world.

Glory to God (Gal 1:5) – giving glory to God is what we are supposed to be doing [1 Cor 10:31].  See also Rom 15:5-9.
