1 Cor 14:22-25 describes a church service where unbelievers are present.  Therefore, you should invite people to church. Generally, prophesying is for the edification of believers, v.22; 1 Cor 14:4-5.  What takes place in the service should edify the saints.  Tongues, v.22, are for them that believe not, predominately because the gospel is being preached to people of other languages, as in Acts 2. 

According to v.24-25, through prophesying in church, which is preaching, unbelievers can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  This is the case when the gospel is preached as part of a message to believers.  Eph 1:12-13 shows you this process of preaching the gospel to people who hear it and then believe. 

I can remember many who have been saved in a church service.  

I talked with a preacher friend, last week, who said that 2 people on one Sunday, and then 3 people the following Sunday, and 2 more people on the next Sunday walked the aisle and were saved.  When I asked him what happened, he said, “Folks are catching my heart for the lost”.  

Their church members are inviting their friends, neighbors, and family to church.  They are coming forward to receive Christ at the end of the service.  My fried is older than me, but he testified that as long as people are getting saved, he’ll keep on preaching.  He said, “It doesn’t get any better than this”.

When reading missionary letters each month, we see people being saved who have visited the churches.  Brother Muller in Merida, and Bro Riggs in Zambia, for example, are reporting that visitors have been saved in their churches.

The is a very simple point to this sermon tonight.  Invite people to church.  According to my pastor friend, this is one of the easiest things you can do to help with the gospel.  

On occasion, I have asked how many were saved in a church service, and the hands indicate that more than half the people were saved at church.  So, church is an excellent place for people to come forward and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
