Galatians 6:7-8 Sowing and Reaping CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Here is one of the greatest doctrines in the Bible. It holds true just like gravity holds true. You sow it and you are going to reap it, good or bad (Gal 5:16). If you sow corn, you reap corn; sow milo and reap milo; sow cotton and reap cotton; sow okra and reap okra. You know this is true. If you sow it, you will reap it. One kernel of corn reaps 500 kernels on two cobs. Wind can turn into a destructive whirlwind. If you don’t believe that one of two things is true according to verse 7, either:
- You are deceived
- You are mocking God
Take, for instance, you are deceived – Eve was. A friend started drinking after years of being off and said, “I’m delivered, it won’t affect me like it did.” He was deceived, and it got him.
If a girl thinks she can fornicate without any consequences, she is deceived:
- Disease
- Baby abortion
- Reputation might trash her
- She wants children later and can’t have them
- Reaping
The condition of this age is deception:
- Matt 24:4
- II Tim 3:13(1-4)
Deception stems from lies and “not truth” and “all deceivableness of unrighteousness” II Thes 2:10. Stems from the work of the devil (Rev 12:9) just like back in the garden.
Take, for instance, you mock God. That is someone that knows what they are doing is wrong and they don’t care. It stems from “no fear of God” Rom 3:18. They actually think they can do it and get away with it. No way – even if you think you’ve gotten away with it here, you don’t in heaven (II Cor 5:10-11). Judgment Seat of Christ is a terrible judgment.
Num 32:23: “Be sure your sin will find you out.”
Preachers and the Bible point out your sin and you say, “Ahh! What do they know? You can’t stop me.” Don’t count on it. II Chr 36:16-17
In a North Carolina revival a man was mowing his lawn: The preacher said, “Come to Christ.” He replied, “Bug off.” Then he died pushing that mower. You won’t mock God or this promise: You sow it, you reap it and more than you sowed.
It is a simple deal. If you sow in the flesh, you reap corruption. “The wages of sin is death.” Drinking leads to death: my father-in-law died 3 weeks after our first child was born; he wa 53 years old. Drug addiction leads to a blown mind: spray heads we met in jail were out of their minds. Theft becomes a habit and a way of life. Fornication leads to diseases, AIDS, and death: a friend’s daughter got saved, but died from disease related to promiscuity. Wealth without Christ can be a good life but leads to death and hell.
If you sow in the spirit, you reap life everlasting.
- Jn 3:3-6
- Jn 7:38-39
Spiritual things to sow: Bible, prayer, witnessing, church, supporting missionaries. Lay it up in heaven and harvest in eternity. The best field is already sown; you just have to reap. Matt 9:36-38, Will you go? You have a guaranteed harvest. You shall reap, Ps 126:6, doubtless.
