God has to Answer for Us
(Proverbs 27:11)
In this proverb Solomon is asking for his son to be wise and make his heart glad. The reason for why he says this is because he has to answer someone who is reproaching him. Everyone who has ever had kids understands this proverbs. A parent has to answer for their kid many times.
In this lesson we will look at the scenario of God as our father answering for us. So this brings us to our first point, who is reproaching God on our behalf?
Who reproaches God on our behalf?
1) Lost people (Exodus 32:11-14 ; Deuteronomy 9:26-28)
- When Moses advocated for the children of Israel, he referenced where the Egyptians would say something negative regarding God if he destroyed them in the wilderness.
2) Satan (Revelation 12:10 ; Zechariah 3:1-7 ; Job 1:-11, 2:4)
- In the first reference from above we see that Satan is called the accuser of the brethren.
- Then in Zechariah we see that he is standing beside the angel of the Lord to resist him regarding Joshua the High Priest.
- But in the last case we see God getting to brag on Job, note that he brought him up to Satan not the other way around.
How can we be wise and makes the heart of God glad?
- Proverbs 24:21 (Fear God and the king)
- Proverbs 4:20 (Attend unto his words)
- Proverbs 5:1 (Attend unto his wisdom and understanding)
- Proverbs 19:27 (Cease to hear words that cause thee to err)
- Proverbs 23: 15, 19, 26 (Give God your heart)
Let us take note of these things and be a son that is wise making the heart of God glad, so that like Job when he answers on our behalf it can be good and not negative.
