How To Walk, 3 Jn 4

How are we supposed to walk after we get saved?  The Bible shows you how to walk.

Walk in truth, 3 Jn 4.  How to walk in relation to the Bible.  John remarked about Gaius, “The truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth”, 3 Jn 3.  Don’t walk in emotion, or opinion, or the counsel of the ungodly, or man’s wisdom, etc.  Walk in the truth of God’s words.  What does God’s word say about it?  Believe the Bible and live by it.

Walk in the light, 1 Jn 1:7.  How to walk in relation to Jesus Christ.  When we walk in his light, we have fellowship one with another.  If you are not in fellowship with God, you are walking in darkness.  It may look like light to you, but it is darkness.

Walk in the Spirit, Gal 5:16.  How to walk in relation to the Spirit.  When you walk in the Spirit, “Ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”.  “The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh”, Gal 5:17.  You can’t walk in the Spirit and walk in the flesh at the same time.  They are contrary to one another.

Walk in newness of life, Rom 6:4.  How to walk in relation to ourselves.  Our old man is crucified with Jesus.  “Put off the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”.  Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.  Put on the “new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”, Eph 5:22-24.  You have eternal life right now.  There is now a new eternal way of doing all things.

Walk in love, Eph 5:2.  How to walk in relation to other Christians.  We are to love each other, “As Christ also hath loved us”.  Jesus’s command is “That ye love one another as I have loved you”.  “All the law is fulfilled in one word, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”, Gal 5:14.

Walk in wisdom, Col 4:5.  How to walk in relation to the lost.  Paul said that we are to walk in wisdom “toward them that are without”.  “That ye may know how ye ought to answer every man”, Col 4:6.  The lost need Jesus and we must have wisdom to deal with them about their soul and Christ’s provision for them at Calvary.

Conclusion: This is how to walk. When you are walking in these six things, you are walking the way we are supposed to walk.  You won’t get off course walking this way.
