I’ve been praying about how folks that we have ministered to can get so far off track after seeming to do so well in their early years.  Tonight we’re going to look at one area in your life that needs to be addressed, if you don’t want this to happen to you.  We’re going to discuss things you do secretly.

If you have to do something secretly, don’t do it.  Eph 5:12 says, “For it is a shame even to speak of those things that are done of them in secret”.  If it is a shame for us to even speak of it, then yo know for sure it is a shame for you to consider doing it.  If what you’re considering must be done in secret to get away with it, then don’t do it.

If you are currently doing something secretly, quit doing it.  2 Ki 17:9, “the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God”.  In 2 Sam 12:12 Nathan said to David, of his sin with Bathsheba, “thou didst it secretly”.  If you are hiding what your doing from the sight of others so that you don’t get caught, cut it out tonight.  Leave it alone.  Stop.

If you are thinking about something secretly, quit thinking about it.  Ps 44:21, “Shall not God search this out?  For he knoweth the secrets of the heart”.  Quit think about it.  You aren’t hiding from God.  You can’t.  And the longer you think about it the more tempted you are going to be to do it.  Get that secret stuff out of your mind.

You’re not getting away with what you’re doing secretly.  Ps 90:8, “Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance”.  Tonight, God has exposed to you through preaching that he knows what you’re doing.  He has brought it to his light tonight.  He wants you to stop, now.

Conclusion: If you have to do it secretly, you know it’s not right.  Never forget this.

We’ve just concentrated our preaching on one thing in this message.  Identify what you are doing or thinking about doing secretly and stop.  You may have to search the scriptures to figure out how to stop.  You may need to get some help to stop, if you’re dealing with an addiction.  But stop.  Make up your mind tonight that there will be no more secrets between you and God.
