 Sin requires blood :

 1)  Genesis 3:21 (God made coats of skin)

2)  Genesis 4:1-7 (Blood is key in sacrifices)

3)  Leviticus 17:11 (Blood is required under the law)

4)  Hebrews 10:4 (Blood of animals could not take away sin)

Chain reference for the blood of Jesus saving us :

 1)  Romans 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

2)  Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,                                       according to the riches of his grace;”

3)  Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

4)  Colossians 1:20 “And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”

5)  Hebrews 13:12 “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood,                                   suffered without the gate.”

6)  1 Peter 1:18-19 “For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition form our fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without  blemish and without spot:”

7)  Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of  the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”

Why is the blood of Jesus capable of saving us?

 1)  He was virgin born (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:27, 34-35)

2)  It was God’s blood (Acts 20:28)

3)  He lived a sinless life (Matt 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13)

4)  He entered in to heaven by it (Hebrews 9:12-14)

5)  This makes him the perfect High Priest (Heb 2:14-18;  )

How is righteousness connected with the blood of Christ?

 Romans 3:20-28

• Righteousness without the law was manifested (verse 21)
• Righteousness of God is by faith in Jesus Christ (verse 22)
• Propitiation is through faith in his blood (verse 25)

Romans 4:5-6 & 2 Corinthians 5:21 (Jesus gets our sin and we get his righteousness)

Galatians 2:21 (If we can earn it, why did he die?)
