Be Sure God is Listening, Jn 14:13-15

Be Sure God is Listening

When you intercede, you want to be sure God is listening.  The way to be sure God is listening is to:

Come to God Obediently – Jn 14:13-15, 21, 23. God might ask, “Why should I do what you’re asking me to do, when you’re not doing what I’m asking you to do”?

Come to God Boldly – Heb 4:16.  Not like an official to his king, or like Esther in uncertainty before Ahasuerus.  But come to God like a child to his father.

Come to God Purely – Ps 66:17-19.  Clean up.  Ask God to search you.  Get on the everlasting way, Ps 139:23-24.

Come to God Thankfully – Ps 100:4.  Come before God with thanksgiving and praise.  God is always more willing to oblige when people are thankful and when your praise brings glory to God.  Jn 17:1 starts with “glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee”.

Come to Good Regularly – 1 Thes 5:17.  Don’t be a stranger.  Too much time away makes you reluctant to enter boldly.  You’re too ashamed to ask.
