How to Attend to My Words
“Attend” means to apply the mind or pay attention to.
“My words” are not words about what God wrote but what he wrote, exactly what he wrote. People routinely misquote 1 Cor 10:13 and cause much confusion to people who are overwhelmed by a situation greater than they can handle.
Make sure that you are attending to what God said and not what someone says he said. How to attend to my words:
Hear them – Incline thine ear unto my sayings. Prov 4:20.
- The voice of the Lord is in the words when you’re reading. In 1 Sam 15:1 Samuel told Saul to hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord. In the KJV you are hearing from God.
- Attend to what God is saying to you through his words while they are being taught and preached. You will say, “God spoke to me through preaching”.
- Attend to what the words say to you when you’re going about your day. This experience is similar to Is 30:21. Your ears shall hear a word behind thee.
See them – Let them not depart from thine eyes. Prov 4:21.
- You see them when you read them. This is why reading in a Bible, rather than on a device, is still the bast way to see them. You remember where they are and you can more easily remember the context in which you saw them.
- Observe them in your walk. They enlighten you and shed light on what you see all around you.
Remember them – Keep them in the midst of thine heart. Prov 4:21.
- Memorize them in your heart. Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee. Prov 22:18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
