Why Should We Study the Word of God?
2 Timothy 2:15
It is amazing the things that people will devote their time and energy to studying, but when it comes to the most important subject in the world, the word of God, many simply fail to study. In this study we are going to look at some reasons that we should study God word as well as the benefits that come from studying the word of God.
Three reasons from for studying the word of God (2 Timothy 2:15)
1) To show ourselves approved unto God, (not man)
2) To be a workman that is not ashamed (1 Corinthians 3:9-16)
3) So that we can rightly divide the word of truth
- Many do not even know what this means but it is the main reason for studying the word of truth.
Benefits of Studying God’s Word:
1) The connection it gives you to God (Hebrews 4:12-13)
- You cannot separate God and his word (John 1:1-3)
- You cannot really know God without knowing his word
2) It is the only source of real truth (Psalm 119:160)
- Jesus is the truth (John 14:6) and the Word (John 1:1,14)
3) The word of God knows the future (Genesis 18:17-18 with Galatians 3:8)
- The word of God is the only thing that can show you the future with guaranteed certainty.
4) Because it knows you and can show you why you do what you do (Hebrews 4:12-13)
- This is why the word of God is the only thing that can give us real and lasting change.
