Breath of life, Gen 2:7
The breath of life is connected with man’s spirit and life.
- Job 33:4, The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
- Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
- Job 34:14-15 if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again to dust. Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
- Jas 2:26 as the body without the spirit is dead….
When God takes man’s breath, Ps 104:29, his spirit departs to God and man returns to his dust. His spirit and his breath are not the same thing. But if God takes one, he takes the other with it. His soul lives on. Today it will either be in heaven or in hell.
The Tree of Life, Gen 2:9
The question is, “Why was the tree of life in the garden”?
Before the fall, there were several things present that God didn’t mention in Gen 1.
- The Devil was here, Ezek 28:13-15; Is 14:12-15; Gen 3:1
- Hell was here, Matt 25:41
- Death was present, just not in the world, Heb 2:14, Rom 5:12
- The Lamb (was) slain from foundation of the world, Rev 13:8.
The foreknowledge of God, that man would fall, is evident from the presence of these things.
Therefore, the tree of life was here to provide the way for man to be healed and to live in a body that was made from the dust of the earth, Rev 22:2, 22:14. Adam’s body was not a glorified body, like we’ll have at the Rapture, immortal and incorruptible.
The provision for life in this earthly flesh was here, in the garden of Eden, even before Adam or his descendants would need to eat from the tree of life to live. This is just like “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” thousands of years before Jesus Christ actually died on the cross.
The tree of life lets us know that God had made provision ahead of time for death. If it served another purpose in the garden beside this, he didn’t tell us what it was.
The Land of Havilah, Gen 2:11-12
In this land there were gold, bdellium, and onyx stones.
Scientists don’t believe that gold was created. They believe that gold formed from supernova and neutron star collisions. The dust containing gold coalesced and formed our solar system and earth. They believe that the mineable gold on earth arrived in meteor showers that bombarded the earth.
Gold came from outer space, all right, but by the hand of God. Scientists created their theory from the Big Bang to refute the truth that God created the earth and all things that are in it.
Bdellium is an ancient resin from “wounded” plants used for spice and incense.
Onyx stones are a microcrystalline form of quartz, which develop in areas of volcanic activity, where subterranean water dissolves silica from rocks and deposits it in voids. These are another indication of the catastrophic event which resulted in Gen 1:2.
Note: They believe diamonds are formed by the combination of heat and pressure which convert carbon atoms into crystalline structures and rubies are formed from aluminum rich minerals subjected to heat and pressure, and infused with chromium.
However, precious stones were created by God. Every precious stone was Lucifer’s covering, Ezek 28:13, before Gen 1:2; and New Jerusalem is pure gold, with a jasper wall on foundations of precious stones, Rev 21:18-20. Precious stones were not formed in the earth. They were created by God.
Therefore, the presence of gold and onyx stones in the land of Havilah in Gen 2, in the context of the garden of Eden and creation, shows us that gold didn’t get here 4 billion years ago be cosmic dust and meteor showers and onyx stones didn’t form over millions of years.
