In various places in the Bible, God is known by what he’s Lord of. For example he is the Lord of hosts. In Heb 13:20 and other placed in the New Testament, he is known as the God of peace, 1 Thes 5:23, Phil 4:9, Rom 16:20.
When we preach to the lost we preach Eph 6:15 the gospel of peace, Rom 10:15. It’s evident then that the Lord wants us to be at peace.
Be at peace with God. Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Often people don’t realize that they are not at peace with God until they get saved. And then they say that they feel so at peace when they receive Jesus Christ.
Be at peace with yourself. 2 Cor 13:11 live in peace; 2 Thes 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. Gal 5:22 but the fruit of the Spirit is … peace.
Regrets and failures and scars of sin don’t go away when the sins have been forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Christ. You have to live in peace as the Lord gives you peace.
And when the cares of life cause you to worry, Phil 4:7 and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding..
Be at peace with each other. Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Must be humble to let it rule. We are CALLED in ONE body. Must never forget this. Gratitude.
Eph 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. It’s and endeavor. You have to keep it. The unity of the Spirit is the BOND of PEACE.
1 Thes 5:13 be at peace among yourselves. When you are not at peace, you need to examine yourself and find out why and then BE at PEACE. It’s never what you see in the other people; your perspective is affected by the lack of peace.
Rom 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. This concerns personal liberties. There are things that you must follow that make for peace.
Be at peace with all men. Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Rom 12:18 … as much as lieth within you, live peaceably with all men.
Early on it appeared that we, as Bible believers, were right and every body else was wrong. And we sought to condemn them for being wrong. When you FOLLOW peace and live PEACEABLY with all men, it’s much easier to reach them with the gospel. You don’t have to be worldly to be at peace with them.
Conclusion: The Lord is the God of peace. His peace should be apparent in our lives and touch every relationship we have. You must be at peace with him before you can truly be at peace with others.
