Lies of the Rulers, Ps 55:21 – Oct 4, 2026

Lies of the Rulers

Ps 55:21 says, “The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords”.  What he is saying so eloquently is, in fact, the opposite of what he intends.  He’s softening you up for the kill.

You need to pay attention to the lies of the rulers.  When you hear a ruler or a government official speaking, you must discern if what he is saying is contrary to what he is thinking.  Rulers often tell believable lies to convince their subjects to follow them into something they would definitely refuse if they knew the truth.

The devil is the master liar.  In Lk 4:5-7 he promised to give Jesus the power and glory of the kingdoms of the world if he would worship Satan.  In fact, he meant to take the rightful power and glory away from Jesus.  Of course, Jesus knew the truth, Rev 11:15.  He could tell what the devil intended.

Herod the king said to the wise men, “Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also”, Matt 2:8.  The wise men would have obeyed the king if they had not been “warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod”, Matt 2:12.  Herod had only one intention; he wanted to kill the child, Matt 2:16.

In 2 Ki 10:18-25, Jehu called all the prophets, servants, priests, and worshippers of Baal to a great sacrifice to Baal, on the pretense that he would serve Baal more than Ahab did.  They all came.  Yet, Jehu’s intention was to murder them.  He appointed eighty men to kill them in the house of Baal.  They all died.

In Jn 7:14-20 Jesus went up to the temple and taught.  The Jews marveled when he taught.  In v.19, Jesus asked them, “Why go ye about to kill me”?  The people answered, and said, “Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee”?  They thought Jesus and those around them might believe their lie.  However, v.25 says, “Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill”?  These folks discerned the lies of the rulers.

In Dan 11:27 two kings will meet.  Their hearts will be to do mischief.  But to disguise their purposes, “they shall speak lies at one table”.  A televised broadcast of their meeting will lead people to believe that they have agreed to peaceful negotiations.

In fact, they are planning the bloodiest and most violent war ever seen on earth.  1 Thes 5:3 says, “For when they shall SAY, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape”.  You have a Bible that sees through the lies of the rulers.

You see, God has given us his words.  We are to read them, believe them, and correctly apply what they say.  They help us to discern the lies of the rulers.  Rulers often intentionally lie to cover their true purposes.  Yet sometimes, they say things they may believe, which we know from the Bible can’t be true.  For example, there will never be world peace without Jesus Christ.

On Sept 22, 2026, President Trump said in a speech to the United Nations, “There is no global government and while I am president, there will be no global taxes”.  The banner under the video of his speech read, “No global government, no global taxes”.  It caught my eye immediately.  Look at Dan 11:20.  The raiser of taxes (the only occurrence of this plural word in the Bible) precedes the vile person (antichrist) who comes in peaceably speaking flatteries to establish a global government.

Conclusion: consider what the Bible says about what they say.  Don’t concern yourself with the commentators comments about their speeches.  They are already biased for them or against them and they are not concerned with what the Bible says.  You and I must filter everything through the words of God to get the truth behind the lies of the rulers.
