When You Get Saved

When You Get Saved Is 4: 1-6  CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In the Sunday school lesson we saw the doctrinal application of this passage to Israel in the millennial reign of Jesus.  But, spiritually, this passage also typifies the Christian in whom Christ dwells.  Here’s what happens to you when you get saved:

We are called by his name – v.1 – Acts 1:26 – we have a new identity – we are no longer in Adam – now we are in Christ with all of the rights, privileges and responsibilities of bearing his name.

He takes away our reproach – v.1 – the reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me [Rom 15:3, Ps 69:9].

We became a beautiful branch on his vine – v.1 – we are connected to him as n Jn 15:1-8 to bear fruit.

We are now called holy – v.3 – 1 Pet 2:9 we are a holy nation – Eph 1:4 our predestination is that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.

We are written in the book of life – v.3 – Phil 4:3 – that’s because now we have life 1 Jn 5:12.

Our sins are washed and our consciences are purged – v.4 – we are washed in the blood of the Lamb [Rev 1:5] and our consciences are purged by his blood from dead works to serve the living God [Heb 9:14].

We have the Lord’s presence continually – v.5 – Heb 13:5, Matt 28:20, Jn 14:18 – he is never away from you no matter what circumstances may make you feel that he is.

And we always have a place of refuge – v.6 – Ps 27:5 – he is our greatest defender against our adversary the devil and our enemies who may seek to falsely accuse us.
