The White Throne Judgment (John 5:25) The White Throne Judgment is one of several judgments. It takes place after the millennium and determines the fate of all those not saved in the Church age.

In the Church age, we only need faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ atCalvaryto be saved. In the Old Testament, the Tribulation and the Millennium there is an element of works in their salvation.

Revelation 20:11 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.”  Revelation 20:13“And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”

At this judgment there are some who are cast into the lake of fire, and some who aren’t.  Not everyone there is condemned.  Daniel 12:2 says “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

According to 1 Corinthians 6:1, those saved in the Church age will be with the Lord to judge the world and the angels at this judgment.  We who are saved during the age of grace have our salvation assured. Nothing can take away our place in heaven.

Notice this element of works in the scriptures.  In the Old Testament, in Leviticus 18:5 “Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.”

In the Tribulation, James 2:24 “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” This verse, despite being in the New Testament, does not apply today. This is salvation that involves an element of works in the Tribulation.

In Revelation 12:17 we see the woman’s seed keeping the commandments of God, and having the testimony of Jesus Christ. Works are involved here. In Revelation 11, sacrifices are reinstituted.  Colossians2:16says that we should not be judged by works, but such these works under the law are a shadow of things to come. If you are saved, you don’t need to worry about keeping these Old Testament ordinances.

Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”  Obviously, these Millennium saints need to follow the commandments to get the tree of life.

All the saints and the lost from all ages will be judged at the White Throne Judgment.  All saved in the Church age will not be judged at this judgment but will be present with the Lord to judge.
