Avail Yourself of Grace

Don’t Fail of Grace CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In this text we are encouraged not to fail of grace.  One way to be sure that you don’t fail of grace is to avail yourself of grace.  To avail yourself of grace requires:

The Lord – Ps 84:11 – it seems that it can go without saying that grace comes from the Lord – nevertheless, when you get saved you need to realize that God has given you grace and that grace should be evident in your like [Acts 11:23] – grace was given to Paul to labor [1 Cor 15:10] – grace is given to each of us by measure to do what God wants us to do in the body of Christ [Eph 4:7] – and we are to grow in this grace [2 Pet 3:18] – men have trouble when they seek to do something contrary to the will of God because he doesn’t provide grace for those tasks.

Truth – Jn 1:17 – like mercy, grace works in conjunction with truth [Col 1:6] – there are people who desire the grace of God, but they don’t want to be truthful with God or with themselves – grace doesn’t work like that – we don’t continue in sin so that grace can abound [Rom 6:1] – God demands holiness [Heb 12:14] and Esau profaned it [Heb 12:16].

Faith – Eph 2:8, Rom 5:1-2 – you must believe God and trust him to provide the grace sufficient for your every need – when you find yourself in a situation too difficult for you to handle, you have to trust that God will give you the grace to get through it – salvation is impossible for men [Matt 19:25-26] – but by God’s grace we are saved when we put our faith in Jesus and what he has done for us [Eph 2:8-9].

Prayer – Heb 4:16 – by prayer we come boldly unto the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need – many times folks don’t get the grace they need from God because they are to consumed with seeking human help.

Weakness – 2 Cor 12:9-10 – see also 2 Cor 8:1-3, 8:9 – we don’t need the grace of God for certain things until we are weak – in other words, God will allow weakness in your life so that he can give you the grace that is sufficient to strengthen you in that weakness – Paul said, “When I am weak, then I am strong.”

Humility – 1 Pet 5:6, Jas 4:6 – you are not going to great grace when YOU are exalted – you are going to get grace when you humble yourself and exalt God!
