Abominable Wickedness Prov. 15: 9 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
The way of the wicked [Hollywood, worldliness, cheating, covetousness, etc.] is an abomination unto the Lord – today we are going to look at some things that the Lord specifically states are abominable to him – avoid these things like the plague because he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
Homosexuality – Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Adultery – Ezek 22:11 And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour’s wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father’s daughter.
Idolatry – Deut 7:25-26 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Sorcery – Deut 18:9-12 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Corrupt Commerce – Deu 25:13-16 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small. Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small. But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Pride, Lying, Murder – Prov 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Wicked imaginations, Mischief – An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations [Prov 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words], feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Discord – Prov 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Corrupt Judicial Systems – Prov 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Self-righteousness – Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
