The Lord’s Direction Prov 16: 9 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Many want to know the answer to the question, What is God’s plan for my life? Prov 16:9 – “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” This lesson is about God’s plan for your life.
Often we are asked about the Lord’s WILL – that’s not really that tough to describe because it is so well documented in the Bible – his will includes the following: salvation 2 Pet 3:9; self-sacrifice, Rom 12:1-2; sanctification, 1 Thes 4:3; thanksgiving, 1 Thes 5:18; and so forth – but the Lord’s PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE is another thing altogether.
So how do I find God’s plan for my life?
Check your heart – that’s why the preparation of your heart [Prov 16:1] and the keeping of your heart [Prov 4:23] at a young age are so important – I went to a Catholic seminary at 14 – evidently, the Lord had put something in my heart at a young age – it just took some time for it to manifest itself – in Neh 2:12 we see that God put something in Nehemiah’s heart.
Devise your way – start going according to what the Lord put into your heart – God doesn’t guide a sitting duck – get going on something that’s right – Paul was on the road to Damascus fighting God but he was going – Phil 3:14-15 press on and let God reveal his plan.
Let the Lord direct your steps – these will lead you to what the Lord wants you to be doing all along the way – His direction will come from:
- The Holy Spirit [Gal 5:25; Rom 8:14]
- The word of God [Ps 119:105; 2 Pet 1:19]
- Wise counsel [Eph 4:11-12 you get a lot of that just sitting in the pew faithfully at church]
Note: DON”T BE IN A HURRY – take your time; be patient – He will guide you even if you are out of his will – Paul, Acts 23:11.
