Sins Prov. 21:4 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
The Bible gives several direct definitions of sin. Sin is:
A high look, a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked – Prov 21:4 – the Lord will abase the proud and exalt the humble – in the case of plowing, the plowing of the “wicked” cannot be done by faith nor can it be done for the glory of God (Col 3:23-25).
The transgression of the law – 1 Jn 3:4
All unrighteousness – 1 Jn 5:17
To have respect of persons – Jas 2:9
To know to do good and to do it not – Jas 4:17
Whatsoever is not of faith – Rom 14:23 – Heb 11:6,
The thought of foolishness – Prov 24:9
Conclusion: So what are we to do about these sins? According to 1 Jn 1:9 we are to confess them. Confession like this keeps you from becoming so self-righteous like a Pharisee – i.e. looking down your nose at someone who has one of these sins when you’re having trouble with the other.
