A Blessing To Your Children, Prov 20:7

A Blessing To Your Children

No doubt you want to be a blessing to your children.  Our children are blessed directly by several things we do, found in the Book of Proverbs.

The blessing of  integrity – Prov 20:7.  They receive a blessing indirectly as the Lord blesses our integrity.  And they have a perfect example to follow at home as they observe our integrity.  They learn how to live by watching us.  The glory of children are their fathers.

The blessing of a place of refuge – Prov 14:26.  They may not always live for the Lord, but they will certainly know to turn to him when they are seeking a refuge.  And the Lord will be a refuge for them when they do.

The blessing of love and wisdom – Prov 13:24, 22:15, 29:15.  They know we love them by our chastening.  And we can drive the foolishness out of them and instruct them to wisdom by our chastening, as well.

The blessing of a good inheritance – Prov 13:22.  The best inheritance we can leave for our grandchildren is good parents, a good local church, and a worn Bible.

Conclusion: if you are currently doing these things, keep it up.  You are a blessing to your children. If you aren’t doing these things, then begin doing them right now.  This way you will be a blessing to your children in the future.
