Lesson #2 Enoch (Verses 5-6)

In this lesson from our series on faith we are going to look at the example of Enoch. Enoch is an interesting character in the word of God because he did not die. He was miraculously taken to heaven. In the testimony from Hebrews regarding Enoch it was said that he pleased God. Therefore, our thought for the lesson is, “It takes Faith to Please God”.

Looking at Enoch (Genesis 5:21-24) :

• When Enoch was 65 years old he begat Methuselah.
• Methuselah means when he is dead it shall be sent.
• If you do the math in Genesis Chapter 5 you will see that Methuselah outlives his son Lamech.
• Lamech son was Noah, therefore when Methuselah died the next generation saw the flood.
• Enoch walked with God for 300 years after he begat Methuselah, and then God took him or as it says in Hebrews, we was translated that he should not see death.
• Enoch is a type of the church age saint who is alive at the rapture and does not see death.

What should be the goal in the life of every saved born again person today?

To please God !!!  (2 Timothy 2:4 and Revelation 4:11).

 What are some ways that we can please God :

1)  Come to him in Faith (Hebrews 11:6)

2)  Obey your Parents (Colossians 3:20)

3)  Walk according to the word of God (1 Thessalonians 4:1-7)

4)  Offer the sacrifice of praise and thanks (Hebrews 13:16)

What are some benefits of Pleasing God :

1)  Rewards (Hebrews 11:6)

2)  Peace and Safety (Proverbs 16:7)
