When you got saved, God called you to a special job.  This job is your vocation.  Paul wanted the Ephesians to walk worthy of that call – I Tim 1:9; Phil 3:14.  We are all called to pray (Lk 18:1), all called to witness (Acts 1:8), all called to do his will (I Th 4:3; 5:18; Rom 12:1-2; I Pet 2:15 do right).  In addition to his will for you, he has a plan for you – i.e. a specific ministry.  And when you do it he gives you guidelines.  You are to do it in:

Lowliness (v. 2)

Meekness (v. 2)

  1. Matt 11:29

  3. Num 12:3
  4. Bowed his face and spared the Jews

Longsuffering

Forbearance

  1. Exercising patience and restraint
  2. Refraining from enforcing rights

Love

Unity of the Spirit (v. 3)

Peace (v. 3)

  1. which is a Bond among believers

Walk like that and you’ll walk right into God’s plan.  If you have to violate some of these, you are not in the plan.
