Adam and Jesus Compared

In this lesson, we will study the similarities and disparities between Adam and Jesus.

Similarities

  • Both sons of God.  Lk 3:38, Lk 1:35
  • Both have wives.  Gen 2:22-24, Eph 5:30-32
  • Both wives come forth from their flesh.  Gen 2:21-22, Eph 5:30
  • Both “die” to bring forth their wives. Gen 2:21, Eph 5:25

Disparities

  • Adam was a living soul 1 Cor 15:45.
  • Jesus a quickening spirit, 1 Cor 15:45.
  • Adam was a natural man, 1 Cor 15:46.
  • Jesus was a spiritual, 1 Cor 15:46.
  • Adam was earthy, 1 Cor 15:47.
  • Jesus was heavenly, 1 Cor 15:47.
  • In Adam all die, 1 Cor 15:22.
  • In Jesus shall all be made alive, 1 Cor 15:22.
  • Through the offence of Adam many be dead, Rom 5:15. Through Adam death passed upon all men, Rom 5:12, Gen 5.
  • Through the gift of Jesus many live, Ro 5:17.
  • Through the offence of Adam many be dead, Rom 5:15. Through Adam death passed upon all men, Rom 5:12, Gen 5.
  • Through the gift of Jesus many live, Ro 5:17.

In Adam we have condemnation; in Jesus was have justification, Rom 5:16, 18.

In Adam we are all sinners; in Christ we are righteous, Rom 5:19.

  • Adam’s sin passed to the whole world, thus all die.
  • Jesus’s death covered the sins of the whole world, 1 Jn 2:2.  As a result, all may live, 1 Cor 15:22, 1 Tim 2:3-6. Jesus’s life passes to all those who believe, Jn 6:23, 1 Jn 5:12.

Death is in Adam.  Life is in Jesus Christ.
