Are you on the Winning Side?
Revelation 19:11-21
In this passage we see a war that will take place in the future. It is called the battle of Armageddon. There are also references in Revelation 16:13-14 and 17:14 to this war. We are going to look at the details of this event as well as some details for the second coming in this sermon to help you see if you are going to be on the winning side.
Amos 5:18 “Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.”
Note that the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ to this earth, according to the above verse is said to be a day of darkness. That will relate not in the sense of physical darkness because Jesus destroys the antichrist with the brightness of his coming (2 Thessalonians 2:8). It refers to that day as a day of darkness because of the doom for the antichrist and his armies.
The important thing to see is from Amos 5:18 is the question that is asked in the middle of the verse. “To what end shall it be for you”
Matthew 24:3-28 (Signs for the 2nd Coming connected with wars and rumors of wars)
Revelation 1:5 (People on the earth wail because of the 2nd Coming of Jesus)
What happens at the Battle of Armageddon? (Revelation 19:11-21)
- Jesus makes war and judges in truth and righteousness (verses 11-12).
- Jesus treads the winepress of almighty God (verse 15) See also Revelation 14:15-20
- Jesus destroys the antichrist and the false prophet in the lake of fire (verse 20)
- Jesus destroys the armies of the antichrist with the sword out of his mouth (verse 15,21)
To what end is this for battle for you?
Note that the armies in heaven follow Jesus Christ in this battle (verse 14). Anyone saved during the church age is in the body of Christ which is the bride of Christ. The bride is raptured out before the Tribulation begins. Therefore, to be on the winning side of this battle you must be saved before the rapture takes place.
This battle will either be a day of darkness for you or tremendous win depending upon what you do with Jesus Christ today.
